SCS SB 239 -- CONVEYANCE IN PETTIS COUNTY
SPONSOR: Mathewson (Smith, 118)
COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Local Government by a vote of 17 to 0.
This substitute authorizes the Governor to convey the National
Guard Armory in Sedalia to the Sedalia School District Foundation
if a bid of at least $99,990 is not received at public auction by
the Office of Administration within six months of opening of the
public sale of the property. If no bid is received,
consideration for the conveyance to the Sedalia School District
Foundation will be $1.
FISCAL NOTE: Estimated Net Income to the General Revenue Fund of
$0 or more than $99,989 in FY 2004, $0 in FY 2005, and $0 in FY
2006.
PROPONENTS: Supporters say that a buyer for the old armory in
Sedalia could not be found. A local committee was formed and
plans were submitted for the use of the armory. After public
hearings and a review of the plans, the committee decided to sell
the armory to the local nonprofit high school foundation. The
substitute allows for other interested parties to purchase the
armory if they have the funds.
Testifying for the bill was Senator Mathewson.
OPPONENTS: There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
